The history of the Youth in the Christian Community 

Since the Christian Community was founded in 1922 Youth, Conferences have always taken place and have always been highlights.

The conferences create spaces where young people can meet, exchange ideas, discuss world issues, and have a good time together.

Realizing that there is a network of young and interested people can strengthen and encourage us to take on responsibilities for the future.

In 1996 there was an international Youth Conference “Spannungsfeld Leben” that took place in Berlin with approx. 1,300 people from all around the world. Many of the connections and relationships that were established there are still alive, and have definitely changed the world, the world and lives of many individuals, but also the world in a bigger sense. This big event was followed by a couple of small conferences, and then in 1999 there was another big one, “HITO”, where almost 2,000 young people gathered together.

Until now most big conferences have been held in or around Germany. “Jump”, the International Youth Conference 2009 in Mullumbimby, will for the first time invite young people from all around the world to Australia.

We as Australians are hoping to be able to present Australia to our visitors, so that they can get an impression of our land, the history, the nature, the culture and what it means to be Australian in 2009. And together with everyone coming, we want to build a network, widen our consciousness by meeting people from other places and listening to their stories.
